Tip on creating the text for your Google AdWord campaign PDF Print E-mail

Ok, a lot of us have worked with Google AdWords and several other pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns. Here are a couple of tips to help out when creating your AdWord campaign.

When structuring your campaign, you have to keep in mind the different pieces that make up the campaign. Specifically, you want to break your campaign into 2 distinct pieces mainly the ad and second, the destination page.

Creating your ad:

  • Title
    • Go to http://inventory.overture.com Find out how many people are searching for the keyword or phrase you want to use. Then find out where it ranks compared to other keywords or phrases. Look at the other options, maybe what you want to put in your ad is not what peopler search on.
    • Customize your  title so it is specific and direct
    • Look at your competitors ads. Determine how yours can be better or different
    • Is your ad clear
  • Description
    • Ok, this has to be clear and simple also
    • Are you offering the same thing everyone else is?
    • Does your description match the destination page's description?

Choosing the destination page

  • Is it your home page? If so, do you have a better page that describes what you're selling or promoting?
  • Does this destination page encourage people to take action?
  • Does this destination page make it easy to buy or find your products?
